Town guards?

Why can someone kill me in Ter Mur in town by the soul forge when I an not in a guild or faction and the guards do not come?

When I try and attack someone guards kill me immediatly??

UO is a cruel game There's a lot of methods to kill you in guard zone. Just get on with one rule - stay aware everywhere you go.

Mind sharing the rules? I now know I am not safe, but it would help to know how to do it. I mean I cannot even attack my own mirror image without being killed by guards haha

If you don't want to be killed you could:
1) Make a friends that can guard you
2) Make a 4/6 fc fcr and just recall when you saw anybody unknown
3) Use smoke bombs, but it requires a lot of skill points
If you don't want to be killed by guard you couldn't:
1) Heal criminal or red player(Even they are your party-members or guild-members. Monsters too)
2) Loot corpses inside guard zone

but if I attack someone in guard zone I also get killed by guards?

Or will that not happen if it is an instant kill?

Oh yes, if you attack someone innocent in guard zone you will be killed too. I'm not sure enough for insta kill, but i exactly know, that criminal can avoid guards somehow.

There are several ways to kill you in the guard zone. If you are in the faction - guard zone rules do not work for you. You will be able to kill the other players in the faction. You can kill other players if you using moongates with fantasy. Or you can be killed by bees (with a certain amount of bad luck they may even kill you in the safe zone). Anyway, all these methods work on the verge of bugs and game mechanics (not all of them are honest), and probably some of them will be changed.

if you are not near the npc, averyone can kill you, you have to say 'guards' himself, then guards will help you. and when you are saying 'guards', u have to stay near the crim player(8tiles).
